I really wanted to create something special, where I would tailor a unique product selection to a particular group of customers I cared about and understood.
I knew that in developing a niche, I would need to prioritize quality rather than quantity, and in fact I worried that as a one-man-band starting out that I’d struggle to keep on top of quality if I went beyond offering around ten products.
So, Tailor Ten was born.
I realized that if the business grew well, and customers started demanding more and more products, that I might have to expand my range, but nevertheless I wanted the basic principle of maintaining a simple, quality selection of goods I understood well imbued into the ethos of the company from the start.
